El Nispero Zoo
Discover over 90 species of animals and a wide variety of plants, both native and exotic. It’s an ideal spot to visit with young children.

Lunch
Enjoy some pasta or pizza at one of the many Italian restaurants in El Valle, such as La Divina Comedia, Casa Florencia, or Bruschetta.

Artisans Market
Visit the Municipal Market to see all the beautiful handmade crafts, including hats, wooden trays (bateas), bags, accessories, hammocks, and other home decorations. You can also take the opportunity to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, or even a plant to take home as a souvenir.

Meet la Rana Dorada
Meet the iconic Golden Frog at the El Valle Amphibian Conservation Center Foundation (EVACC). You can visit this conservation center by booking an appointment.


4:00 p.m
Squared Trees Trail
Just a few steps away from EVACC, you’ll find this almost mythical trail with rounded-corner trees. It’s a short hike and a great chance to surround yourself with the beautiful nature of El Valle.
5:00 p.m
Snack Time
End your visit with some delicious orejitas from Panadería Cano, a coconut donut from Coco Latte, or a tiramisu at Pausa Café. You can enjoy them on-site or take them to go.

La India Dormida
After a light breakfast, hike up La India Dormida. Due to its shape and legend, it’s the most iconic hill in El Valle de Antón. Along the trail, you can also visit the La Piedra Pintada petroglyph and cool off in one of the many small waterfalls. The trail is of medium difficulty and takes between 1.5 to 3 hours to hike, depending on how far you go.

Recharge at one of the many traditional Panamanian restaurants, such as Restaurante Doña Nella, Heaven’s Café, Deditos Dorados, or Brisas Panameñas.

Butterfly Haven
Visit the Butterfly Haven to learn more about these beautiful creatures. After a short talk, you’ll have the chance to walk among hundreds of butterflies. It’s an experience for all ages!
3:00 p.m
Orchidarium
Just a few blocks from the butterfly house, you can visit the El Valle and Cabuya Orchid Growers Association, better known by its Spanish acronym, APROVACA. In this small center, you can walk among a wide variety of plants and flowers, with orchids being the highlight. Call ahead if you want to make sure there are blooming orchids during your visit.

Cerro La Cruz
Enjoy one of the best sunsets in the area from this hilltop. You can drive up, park, and walk about 5–10 minutes to the cross. From there, you’ll get a panoramic view of the entire caldera.

Dinner
End your day with a delicious dinner in a charming setting. There are several restaurants with outdoor seating, but if you’re looking for something extra special, we recommend La Casa de Lourdes.
