This section contains the most iconic attractions of El Valle: La Piedra Pintada, the summit of India Dormida and the Chorro las Mozas. Many climb to the top of India Dormida to enjoy its impressive view, but they return without knowing that you can extend your adventure by going up and down its peaks until you reach Cerro La Cruz. When you reach this point, instead of going down to El Valle on the street, we recommend that you follow the route and go down the Cerro Violín trail where you will end up next to the Antón River and you can cool off in the Chorro Las Mozas.
The route can be done with a certified guide, whose services can be obtained at the entrance of the trail or you can do the route on your own by following the signposts along the trail.
Attractions
- La Piedra Pintada: An immense rock with pre-Columbian petroglyphs.
- Waterfalls: Going up to the top of India Dormida there are three different waterfalls where one can bathe and cool off.
- The summit of India Dormida: An unparalleled view of El Valle de Anton from one of Panama’s most famous mountains.
- The Edge of India: This segment allows you to go up and down the mountain peaks with beautiful views on each climb. It is important not to turn left or right. Go straight following arrows.
- Cerro La Cruz: At this point the path goes out to the street that connects El Valle with Antón and Penonomé. Buses pass here from time to time, so you can decide to go down to town by bus. If you keep walking, when you cross the street you will find El Cerro la Cruz, a very popular viewpoint among locals and tourists, especially to watch the sunset. After passing the cross you continue along the street, passing the cemetery, and you will arrive at Cerro Violín. From this point you can go down a path to the Chorro las Mozas in El Valle.
