Vivero de Orquídeas APROVACA
Orchid conservation center, most of which are native to Panama.
Descripción
Association of Producers of Orchids from the Valley and Cabuya, also known as APROVACA, is an orchid conservation center. They exhibit more than 100 beautiful orchids, most of which are native to Panama. It is one of the few places where Panama’s national flower, the Holy Spirit orchid, is grown. In the greenhouse dedicated exclusively to conserving this endangered flower, every plant that grows has a sponsor. Each sponsor donates $20 a year to help care for and protect this beautiful species. In the garden you can see many other unique species of orchids, such as the Vanilla orchid (vanilla is actually an orchid!), Slipper orchids, Oncidium, and many miniature species. It’s an amazing place to learn about Panama’s rich and unique flora! In addition, the center operates a hostel called the Orchid Hostel, a genuine backpacker accommodation in El Valle. All bookings include a free visit to the centre.

Tips & Suggestions:
Orchids vary from the times in which they bloom; There are even times when there are no flowering orchids in the nursery. To improve the chances of seeing the orchids in their greatest splendor we recommend visiting during summer and Easter. Or call before visiting.
